Raise your voice in song, clap, stomp, jump and lift your heart - join the joyful noise at Freedom School Harambee!

Harambee is a Kiswahili word that means "let's pull together." It's also the name for the morning celebration which kicks off each day of Children's Defense Fund Freedom Schools® six-week summer program. The program provides free, literacy-based learning experiences that promote social, cultural, and historical awareness. Our goal is to improve literacy skills, build strength of character, and provide our scholars with a supportive learning community.

We'd like to extend a special invitation for you to join us a guest reader during Harambee!

Our readers are crucial in showing Freedom School scholars diversity and leadership in our community, as well as a shared love for reading and learning. Your passion, excitement and simple love of a good book have the power to spark a child's imagination and propel their journey to success.
