My Home Library - Big Awesome Book Sort
Grab your friends on Saturday March 24th to volunteer your time to help sort books for our My Home Library initiative. This will be our biggest book sort ever – come be a part of getting free books to over 4,000 children!
My Home Library is an initiative of the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation aimed at providing more children access to books in the home. Children log onto the My Home Library website to create a wish list of six books to build their home library. Then, members of the community sponsor a child's library.
During this event, volunteers will sort and bag over 25,000 books selected by children in seven Houston area schools -- Blackshear Elementary, Lewis Elementary, Robinson Elementary, Burrus Elementary, Mitchell Elementary, Hartsfield Elementary, Highland Heights Elementary through the Foundations’ My Home Library initiative.
This event will be located at the Region 4 Education Service Center, 7200 Northwest 100 Dr, Houston, TX 77092.
Note:
We have a limit of 25 volunteers under age 18 per shift. If you are a parent or guardian of a volunteer under the age of 13, please email the opportunity coordinator to sign up your child.
All volunteers under the age of 18 will need to bring a volunteer liability waiver to the event, signed by their parent or guardian. This waiver can be found at this link.
